We haven't hands-on tested the products on Tailhollow, and we say so on every product page. Instead, we decide whether a product is worth mentioning by checking it against the questions below, using the vendor's own published information, and we show you exactly where each fact came from.
What we check
- Does it fit a real need from our guides? A product only appears next to a guide where it could help, and always after the free options.
- Is the method kind? For training products, we look for reward-based methods and avoid anything built on punishment or dominance.
- What does the vendor actually say? We read the vendor's own pages and only repeat factual descriptions, attributed to the vendor. We don't repeat health claims, results promises, guarantees, testimonials or "limited time" offers.
- Are the costs clear? We check whether there is a subscription, renewal or extra paid plan, and tell you to confirm the price on the vendor's page. We only show a price when we have checked it on the day, with the date.
- Who should skip it? Every product page has a "probably not for you if" list, including when to see a vet or a behaviour professional instead.
What you won't see
- star ratings, scores or "best overall" awards
- claims that we tested, own or use a product, unless that is true and dated
- invented reviews or testimonials
How affiliate links work here
Some products pay us a commission if you buy through our link. It never costs you more. A product link only goes live after we have been approved by the program and have reviewed the page ourselves. Read our affiliate disclosure.
If we test something in future
If we ever test a product hands-on, the page will say what we did, when, and for how long, and keep that separate from the vendor's description.
